If It's Too Loud...

Sir Paul McCartney came into town last night and Ian and I went to his concert. It was such a fun night. He sounded so good and was very entertaining. The music was amazing. The weather was perfect. The people around us were NOT obnoxious (that's a first!).

Every time a song started, the girl in front of us would screech, "WoooooooooHooooooooHoooHoooHooo!!" with both fists pumping above her head. I'm pretty sure she was his biggest fan (in the cheap seats, anyway!) She was very entertaining as well!

It was surreal to listen to him play live.

(He's playing the piano on the right of the stage)
He had a fun personality. One lady in the front held up a sign that said, "Paul, you're in Utah. Will you marry us?" He read the sign and replied, "ALL of you?!"

He told all kinds of great stories. One was about how when the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record came out, he was so honored because the very next night, Jimi Hendrix was playing in concert and had bought the record and learned it and played it as a tribute to The Beatles. In Jimi's signature way, he added all kinds of crazy guitar playing - which totally gets the guitar out of tune. So, he called out to the audience, "Eric? Eric, Are you out there?" (meaning Eric Clapton, who actually was there.) "Eric, will you come up and tune this for me, man?" Pretty cool to hear that story from him!

He played 2 encores adding an additional 45 minutes to the amazing already 2 hour long concert. We could've stayed all night!

Re: This post's title:

...You're too OLD!!
(Note the lady in the white shirt with blue flowers on it preserving whatever is left of her hearing...I wonder if she use to be one of the girls who screamed and melted in tears whenever the Beatles made an entrance!)

P.S. I was hoping he'd sing this song and he finally did in his second encore. This one's for you, Loretta!

And In Other News...

Shaylor got a haircut. We told him we were going to give him a "Summer Buzz."
He didn't know what they meant and he FREAKED OUT.
"I DON'T WANT IT SHORT!" he screamed over and over again.

This is him after...good grief, was that so terrible?
Now he's proud of it. Everyone who asks him if he got a haircut gets the reply, "Yep, it's called a Summer Buzz!" (said with much enthusiasm!)

Gracie's "fwee"

Can you believe she's 3 already? Where has the time gone? Our sweet little princess had a wonderful day.

Here she is opening a card from Grandma Laurie. She genuinely loved everything she got! It was this reaction every time!

Grandpa and Grandma Jack thought the princess would like to do some shopping - and they were right!

Princess dress (made by Mommy!)...check.
Princess shoes...check.
Princess trike...check.
Princess necklace...check.
Princess crown...check.
One princess, ready to shop...check.

Two garage sales later, and she got what she wanted! (Plus some $$ left over for future sales!)

Gracie and Shaylor played in the sunshine on the front lawn later in the afternoon.

Here's Gracie with her Belle cake.

Grandpa and Grandma Meeks timed their visit right in time for a few more presents and cake!

The girl LOVES to snuggle!

In the evening, we took them to a carnival where they got to ride in the boats. Not the cars, mind you, those were too scary (can't you see their uncertainty in the picture above?!) They thought they were brave enough, but then decided the boats were a better choice.

She had a very low-key, fun day... and loved every minute of it!
"Fanks Daddy!"
