Gone, Baby, Gone

We've been off having fun the past 3 weekends, and I thought I'd share some pictures of our fun.

Ian and I went to Midway to camp overnight for our 12th Wedding Anniversary. We went to the Homestead Crater and swam/snorkeled in it's underground hot spring. We had dinner at Tommy's BBQ and it was THE BEST pulled pork sandwich I've ever had...that I didn't make myself! ;-) We went back to the camper and decided to take a power-nap at 7pm...and woke up at 10:30pm, saw the time and promptly fell right back to sleep. Apparently, we needed some decent rest!

The following weekend - Memorial Day - we drove to Vegas to see Aaron and Adriana and their kids. It was so much fun. They have a beautiful home and a swimming pool in the backyard. we played at a fun "Butterfly Park" and got wet in the splash park. It was so fun to just relax and hang out with them. It was great to let the kids play with their cousins too.

Gracie LOVES her Aunt Adriana and want to be with her the whole time!

We got home, unpacked, did laundry, and packed again for our trip to Moab. We rented a jeep and did some major rock climbing. It was fun (a little scary for us girls). Ian did an awesome job driving it - he LOVED it!

We some some local wildlife :We found the only shade in Moab. If you put your heels together and opened your toes to the sides (ballet 1st position) - you could actually be completely covered by it! This is where we had lunch.

The next day, we went to Arches National Park and hiked up to Delicate Arch (the arch you see on all the license plates). It was a challenging 3 mile hike for the kids, but they did great. (And carrying them down the mountain the last 15 minutes was a good workout!)
Below is Balanced Rock. One of these days, that sucker is going to fall!

That afternoon we went swimming in Ken's Lake and got cooled off - which we desperately needed with the 100 degree temperatures and the biting gnats which forced us to stay inside the camper with no air-conditioning

It has been so fun to go, but now we're ready to stay!

We feel so grateful that we have been watched over and that everything has gone well on all of our trips. We pulled the camper to through the desert to Moab and back with Ian's truck. The day after we got back, he was driving it to work and about 10 minutes after he left, it completely died. (Needs a new alternator - grrrrr) We're so grateful that our prayers were answered and that everything worked properly on our trip - breaking down with our 4 little kids in 100 degree heat in the middle of the desert pulling a camper would've been a very difficult problem to deal with.
